One of the benefits of being able to choose our lighting is bringing attention to relatively unknown developers. Such is the case with the people who made Forrest in the Woods; this small indie team reached out to us to showcase their upcoming release and I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw.

Forrest in the Forest is a simple but well-designed backtracking platformer that you could only dream of. In it, you take on the role of an as-yet-unnamed (though I’d hazard a guess it’s “Forrest”) character, fighting monsters by jumping and racing through a 2D environment.

It promises a charming throwback aesthetic with plenty of crisp pixel art, plenty of space to explore including the central town areas and the tavern, and a greater variety of enemies to fight and abilities to take them down with.

With a hop and skip

As I said above, it’s always good to bring attention to lesser-known releases. And while I don’t think I’ll ever claim that Forrest in the Woods is some kind of stunning new take on the platformer genre, a competently and passionately made project like this is something I’m always happy to see on mobile devices. .

When will he arrive? According to the developers, there will be a good rough estimate in about the next 1-2 weeks from this writing, so keep an eye out for that!
