Cyberpunk 2077 will soon get more “cool stuff” in surprise update 2.2

Seven months after announcing the official end of development on Cyberpunk 2077—and just over a year since its last major release, 2.1—CD Projekt has announced that its open-world sci-fi RPG will soon be getting even more “cool stuff” in a surprise new update . .

CD Projekt posted the news on social media, revealing that Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.2 will be covered in more detail in a livestream on Twitch and YouTube, which will go live on Tuesday, December 10th at 16:00 GMT. As for what the update will include, that remains a mystery, but global community director Marcin Momot went some way to meeting expectations in a separate post.

“There are a lot of questions about whether PS5 Pro and NG+ support will come with Cyberpunk 2077 patch 2.2,” he wrote. “The answer is no. We have something else interesting that we will talk about tomorrow during the stream – we hope you like it too!”

The last major update 2.1 for Cyberpunk 2077 was released in December 2023. Watch on YouTube.

Of course, this isn’t the first time CD Projekt has poured cold water on fans’ hopes for a PS5 Pro upgrade. The studio has confirmed that it has “no plans” to release the update for Sony’s console back in November. But if PS5 Pro and New Game Plus come out, what might version 2.2 bring?

It’s likely that it will primarily focus on fixes and minor quality of life updates for issues identified during CD Projekt’s work on the Mac port of Cyberpunk 2077 due out next year. Anything more significant seems doubtful, given that much of the studio is currently focused on its new Witcher game – which is now officially in “full production” – but we’ll find out more tomorrow.
