Fortnite is committed to supporting the rock band festival music mode through 2025 and beyond.
For the foreseeable future, Epic Games will continue to support Fortnite Festival, the Rock Band-themed game mode developed by Harmonix.
The confirmation comes today as the festival celebrates its first anniversary this weekend, giving access to play all 285 of the mode’s tracks for a limited time.
Last year, Epic Games expanded Fortnite beyond its shooter origins, releasing Lego Fortnite, which performed particularly well, as well as Fortnite Festival and Rocket Racing, an arcade racing mode created by Rocket League studio Psyonix.
In October, Epic Games quietly announced that Rocket Racing would no longer receive regular themed content updates, and the mode does not currently offer any additional cosmetic rewards to unlock.
All Fortnite player impressions show the number of public games, and it’s easy to see the main game modes – Battle Royale and Zero Build – with hundreds of thousands of concurrent players. The quantity of Lego Fortnite is usually in the tens of thousands. The Fortnite festival usually attracts around 15,000 players. Rocket Racing numbers in the thousands.
The festival also has a clear monetization route: a season pass featuring a specific music star, as well as the ability to purchase music tracks to save and play regardless of whether the song is in the mode’s current rotation or not.
This regime began with a focus on The Weeknd, and then subsequent seasons were led by true music giants such as Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Metallica and Snoop Dogg.
“While the first year of the Fortnite Festival is officially over, festival roadies and stage crew are already hard at work making 2025 and beyond even bigger,” Epic Games wrote today. “However, 2024 is not over yet and we have a few surprises in store to help us see off the year in style!”
The Weeknd, Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish and Colombian singer Karol G will all receive updated platinum versions of their original skins, and XP quests for playing their music will also appear in the coming days.
It’s a very busy time for Fortnite, which recently launched a permanent Fortnite OG offering. Coming this week is Lego’s social simulator mode, Fortnite Brick Life, as well as Valorant-themed Fortnite Ballistic.
