- “Days of Sakamoto” is a long-awaited anime that will be released soon
- The company will have its own mobile game coming out around the same time after launch.
- Combining combat, character collection and match-3, it’s an eclectic mix of content.
If you follow anime news, you may already know about the upcoming release of the Sakamoto Days anime on Netflix. According to anime fans at Crunchyroll, the iconic series will also be getting its own mobile game in the form of Sakamoto Days Dangerous Puzzle.
Even if you’re not an anime fan, Sakamoto Days Dangerous Puzzle looks like it’s going to be jam-packed with content. Includes not only match-3 gameplay, but also a storefront simulation (which matches the series’ plot), combat mechanics, and the ability to recruit various characters from across the series.
Sakamoto Days itself focused on the titular Sakamoto, a retired assassin who left a life of crime to start a family and now works a 9 to 5 job at a convenience store. However, the underworld is not something you can escape, and together with his new partner Shin, Sakamoto shows that a slight loss of form has not diminished his almost superhuman skills.
Mobile connection is required
Days of Sakamoto is one of those rare series that has become somewhat of a cult following even before the actual anime came out. So it’s very exciting to see that, even before release, it will also get a mobile version! What’s more, it looks like a fairly eclectic mix of both more familiar fare like character collecting and combat, and something more suited to a wider audience like match-3 puzzles.
It also raises a very interesting question about how Japanese anime and manga are intertwined with mobile devices, especially considering that some major multimedia franchises like Uma Musume got their start on smartphones.
