Urban Legend Hunters 2: Double, combining live action and virtual worlds, will be released soon

  • Urban Legend Hunters 2: Double is Playism’s latest release and will be released soon.
  • In it, you take on the role of an outsider in a missing person case.
  • Experience 3D environments with AR and FMV actors superimposed on it.

The world of FMV, or full motion video, is still quite rare in gaming. Having been all the rage back in the ’90s, it’s now firmly on the hockey end of the scale. But can the upcoming release of Urban Legend Hunters 2: Double bring it out of the shadows? Eh, probably not, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be fun.

In Urban Legend Hunters 2: Double, you take on the role of an outside observer of the entire ordeal faced by Chris, a missing YouTuber (sic) who runs a channel about urban legends. You will meet Rain, Shu and Tangtang, who claim to be members of Chris’s channel, and learn the legend of the doppelgänger, or doppelgänger, and how when two meet, one will take the other’s place and no one will be the wiser.

Urban Legends 2 combines FMV video with augmented reality investigation as you use your phone’s camera to navigate the 3D environment and conduct investigations. What’s interesting is that the stated FMV is actually predicted. over the environment itself. Strange? Yes. Creative? Certainly.

Yes

These stupid cryptids

So one thing we can definitely give Urban Legends 2 is that it has an interesting concept and execution. But at the same time, I think I would temper my expectations; I don’t think it will be some kind of subtle psychological thriller.

At the same time, is that really what you want from something like this? I think part of the fun of FMV is the banality, and that goes hand in hand with the horror. So, with that being said, while we don’t have an exact release date yet (other than a fairly vague idea for this winter), I’d say it’s worth a look.

Meanwhile, while you might not think that mobile devices are synonymous with horror, you’d be wrong. Don’t believe us? Why not check out our list of the 25 best horror games for Android?
