The Game Awards 2024: the biggest announcements, trailers and announcements
The Game Awards 2024 saw an avalanche of new game announcements: from the return of classic franchises (Okami, Turok, Virtua Fighter) to the discovery of completely new worlds (Naughty Dog’s Intergalacticsomething new from Fumito Ueda). We’ll give you a rundown of everything that was announced at The Game Awards, including major world premieres, small game surprises, and just plain fun trailers.

New game Intergalactic: The Heretic Project from Naughty Dog announced
The Last of Us and Uncharted developer Naughty Dog returns with a brand new property: Intergalactica: Heretical Project. According to the official description of the game, the action takes place thousands of years in the future. Intergalactic Players will take on the role of Jordan A. Man, “a bounty hunter who finds himself stranded on Sempiria, a distant planet whose connection with the outside universe was severed hundreds of years ago. “Jordan will have to use all her skills and intelligence if she hopes to become the first person in over 600 years to leave her orbit.” A new Naughty Dog game, directed by Neil Druckmann, has been in development since 2020.
Elden Ring Nightreign announces new co-op multiplayer spin-off
FromSoftware returns to Elden Ring with a new co-op multiplayer expansion that hasn’t been seen yet Elden Ring 2but something else. Elden Ring Nighttrain will be released in 2025 for PlayStation, PC and Xbox platforms.
The Witcher 4 starring Ciri has been announced
CD Projekt Red has unveiled the next game in the Witcher franchise, which will mark the beginning of a new saga for the studio. The Witcher 4 Ciri will be the main character and… well, just check out the extremely impressive six-minute debut trailer for CD Projekt’s next big game.
Ico and Shadow of the Colossus director Fumito Ueda’s next game announced
The long-awaited next game from game director Fumito Ueda – the creator Iko, Shadow of the ColossusAnd The Last Guardian – it turned out. At the moment the game is untitled, but works under the name Project: Robot. Ueda and his studio Gen Design have announced a game featuring a giant robot and a tiny pilot, and it looks like it’s some kind of world-ending disaster.
Borderlands 4 officially revealed for the first time
Gearbox Software’s highly anticipated new game Borderlands received its first real trailer at The Game Awards. Borderland 4 promises to be “the most ambitious Borderlands game yet” when it releases in 2025. According to the game’s official description, players will battle the Timekeeper, “a ruthless dictator who dominates the masses from above.” Now a world-changing catastrophe threatens his perfect Order, causing chaos across the planet. Ignite the resistance and fight your way through mechanical monsters, bloodthirsty bandits and vicious beasts. Assemble an arsenal of deadly firepower to wreak havoc on your path through Kairos.”
Okami is back, as is Hideki Kamiya.
Capcom is finally making a sequel Eyesis a 2006 adventure game inspired by The Legend of Zelda and Japanese folklore. An even bigger surprise was that Eyes game director Hideki Kamiya, formerly of PlatinumGames, is working on it at the new Clover Studio, a kind of continuation of the closed Clover Studio.
Pac-Man goes dark in Shadow Labyrinth
If you caught Pac-Man’s Secret level episode on Prime Video, are you ready for Bandai Namco’s new, darker take on the dot-chewing ghost. 2D platformer, Shadow Maze It’s definitely a turnaround for the character, who celebrates his 45th anniversary in 2025.
Outer Wilds 2 First Gameplay Revealed
Obsidian Entertainment has come up with a bold new look for the sequel to next year’s film. The Outer Worldspromising “an action-packed adventure in a new colony with an even newer crew and all-new graphics.” The Outer Worlds 2 will be released in 2025.
Virtua Fighter 6 confirmed
It’s finally happening: Sega is releasing a new installment in its fighting game series, Virtua Fighter. The new Virtua Fighter will feature some familiar faces, but we’ll have to wait for developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios’ VF Direct 2024 for more details. The extremely prolific studio RGG also announced another game: Project Centurywhich looks like a violent version of the early 20th century Like a Dragon series.

Hazelight Studios, hit developer It takes two And Exittakes an even more ambitious step into the two-player co-op adventure genre with Split fiction.
Capcom announces new Onimusha game
Capcom’s samurai action thriller Onimusha will return with Onimusha: Path of the Sword in 2026. This will be 20 years since the last new main game in the franchise. Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams. The new Onimus will be set in Kyoto during the early Edo period, when the city was “transformed by vile Malice and monstrous enemies known as Genma stalked the surrounding area.”
Shadow the Hedgehog – and presumably Sonic the Hedgehog – are getting behind the wheel of a new racing game called Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. That’s literally all we know at this point.
Mafia: The Old Country received a new story trailer
2K and Hangar 13 have offered an intimate look at their new mafia story set in the brutal underworld of 1900s Sicily in a new narrative trailer for the film Mafia: Old Country. This new installment in the Mafia franchise will arrive in the summer of 2025.
Saber Interactive introduced Turok: OriginsA completely new game in the series of shooters about battles with dinosaurs. As Turk warriors, players will fight in co-op or solo combat and collect the DNA of enemies to gain the power to “unravel the mysteries that hold the key to saving humanity.” Turok: Origins will be released on PS5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X.
The Illuminates are coming to Helldivers 2
The ancient civilization of the Illuminati returns in a new update for Helldivers 2. The new Omens of Tyranny update will feature Helldivers defending new colonies, facing new enemies, riding FRVs, and participating in urban warfare on PlayStation 5 and Windows PC.
Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound from the developers of Blasphemous
Koei Tecmo’s Ninja Gaiden franchise is back, but this time in side-scroller form, thanks to blasphemous developer of The Game Kitchen and DotEmu. Ninja Gaiden: Rage Limit sees Ryu Hayabusa in America, and while he is away, Hayabusa Village becomes filled with demons. Young ninja Kenji Mozu is ready to save his and Ryu’s home in the new Ninja Gaiden game, due out in summer 2025.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be released on PC
The second chapter of Square Enix. Final fantasy 7 The remake project will be released on Windows PC on January 23, 2025.
The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered will also be released on PC
Naughty dog The Last of Us Part 2 will be released on Windows PC on April 3, 2025 and will include graphical enhancements, game modes such as survival roguelike No Return and Guitar Free Play, full DualSense controller integration and more, as Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed at The Game Awards.
New Tekken 8 fighter from the world of Final Fantasy

Warren Spector’s stealth game Thick As Thieves announced
From OtherSide Entertainment comes Thick as thievesa new multiplayer PvPvE stealth action game. According to the official description of the game, you will: “Forge your path to mastery as a thief in a glittering and dark 1910s metropolis that combines industry, magic and intrigue. Your choices unlock unique playstyles and strategies that shape your character as a thief.” Thick as thieves should take place in 2026.

Techland presented a new trailer Dying Light: Beastintroducing a character named Baron, who is described as “the biggest threat Kyle Crane has ever faced”, and a release window of summer 2025.

Pugstorm has announced its next game. KyoraA 2D sandbox adventure for 1-8 players that will take players into “a realm of ruin where every pixel is a tool to create something new.” Players must mine resources, craft physical wands, fight powerful bosses, and build a base while terraforming the world around them.
Steel Hunters, a new game about robots from the World of Tanks team
Wargaming, game developer World of Tanks And World of Warshipsexplores heavy metal in a new way with Steel HuntersA new free-to-play mech hero shooter that combines the mechanics of a battle royale and an evacuation shooter. There is a playtest you can sign up for on Steam.
The developers of Sifu presented Rematch, a surprise football game
By far one of the most unexpected reveals at The Game Awards was the next game from Sifu and Absolver developer Sloclap. They’re making online multiplayer football football match called Rematchwhich the studio says “uses lessons learned from Sloclap’s previous games about precise, dynamic movements,” including Sifu. Rematch will be released on consoles and PC in 2025.
The creators of Overcooked are giving us stage fright
Cooperative chaos Digested gets a new twist with Stage frighta new creepy multiplayer game from developer Ghost Town Games. Developer (and publisher Hello Games!) describes Stage fright as “a collaborative experience full of Overcooked-style chaotic moments and escape room-style collaboration.”
Superhero Workplace Comedy Announced Dispatch
Send is a workplace superhero comedy where choices matter, and it has a cast with Aaron Paul, Jeffrey Wright and Laura Bailey leading the list of voice actors featured in AdHoc Studio’s original game.
Racing game experts Milestone have revived Screamer
MotoGP developer Milestone is bringing back the Screamer racing game franchise it developed in the early ’90s, when the studio was still known as Grafitti. New Screamer will have an anime flavor thanks to the animation studio Polygon Pictures and the voice of Troy Baker.
The first Berserker: Khazan received a release date
Nexon and developer Neople release new cinematic trailer First Berserker: Khazan it was “overseen by the award-winning Russo Brothers,” announcing the RPG’s release date as March 27, 2025 on PS5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
