The Illuminate will appear in the Helldivers 2 Omens of Tyranny update

Helldivers 2 The game has had its ups and downs since launch, but the new trailer at The Game Awards is perhaps one of the most exciting things to happen since launch. The new trailer shows a lot of interesting additions: firstly, a new enemy faction, the Enlightenment, which originally appeared in the first game; secondly, vehicles that Helldivers can drive around the battlefields; and thirdly, urban warfare. This is all part of the new update, Omens of Tyrannywhich looks like it will seriously change the pace of the online shooter’s galactic war.

Since launch, players have been thrust into battle against two factions: the Terminids, a race of giant insect monsters, and the Automatons, an army of deadly robots. Until now, Helldivers have fought a war on two fronts. We fought back against the Terminids only for them to create an impenetrable wall of spores in their regions of space. The Automatons have been a constant thorn in Super Earth’s side, and the Democracy Station the players worked together to build is deep within their territory.

The third faction will only complicate matters further, especially since it appears they are using powerful psychic powers to control the corpses of dead people to use as an army. The walker shown at the end of the trailer looks particularly disturbing, and I can’t wait to find out how to topple these beasts.

At the end of the trailer it says that the update is now available; upon login Helldivers 2 I received the following message from Super Earth:
