Dungeon & Fighter: Arad is the DNF franchise’s step into the world of open world adventure.
- Dungeon & Fighter: Arad is a recently announced game in the DNF franchise.
- It looks like it will go in a different direction than its predecessors and instead offer open world adventures.
- Borrowing a bit from MiHoYo’s playbook? May be.
The Dungeon & Fighter series is, I would say, Nexon’s flagship franchise. Attracting millions of players and having plenty of spin-offs, it may not be as well known in the West, but there’s no denying that it’s a cornerstone of their catalogue. It’s no surprise that a new Dungeon & Fighter spin-off is in the works: Arad.
This 3D open-world adventure gave us our first look at it thanks to a debut teaser that, before you even ask, debuted at the Game Awards. The trailer shows off more details of the world and the numerous (unnamed) characters that many DNF fans have already been sold on as potential classes from previous entries in the series.
Dungeon & Fighter: Arad promises open world exploration, intense combat, and plenty of classes to choose from, as you’d expect. There will also be a big focus on story, with a new roster of characters to meet and interact with, as well as the addition of some daring puzzles.
Outside the dungeon
For the rest of us, there’s not much else to take away from the teaser trailer. Although, judging by the mood, I wouldn’t be surprised if we are dealing with something close to the formulas laid down and popularized by the MiHoYo catalogue.
We already knew that Arad was on his way, but we only knew the name. And while everything we’ve seen so far looks attractive, I wouldn’t be surprised if it risks straying too far from what fans of the series are used to. However, there’s no denying the value of the production, and advertisements reportedly plastered around the Peacock Theater (where the Game Awards were held) indicate that Nexon is poised for success.
However, there are even more top releases waiting for you while you wait. If you don’t believe me, check out our latest list of the top five new mobile games to try this week!
