The upcoming Path of Exile 2 patch aims to fix the most annoying problems

Over 400,000 people are clicking monsters and collecting loot in Path of Exile 2 right now, according to Steam’s list of the most popular games. This also means that thousands of people are torn apart by these monsters and wonder how they ended up in the game Dark souls role-playing games with loot. Developer Grinding Gear Games doesn’t seem bothered by the number of people surprised by the difficulty, but they do want to make their lives a little less miserable in the latest update of the year.

The first thing you learn in PoE 2 is that anything can and will kill you. Skeletons pummel you like their last performance was a boss in another game, and fighting three wolves at once should reward you with a Medal of Honor. The first 20 hours are a survival game where the trees strike back, and all you get for completing the campaign is another difficulty spike.

The pain won’t end PoE 2′This is an upcoming patch, but it should be a little fairer, according to the developer’s forum post. Skills that struggle to help players in the game get major boosts, including bow attacks, bone and chaos spells, and shield abilities. For a witch player forced to pretend to be a sorceress because all the thematically relevant skills were bad, this is great news.

Almost everything in Trial of Sekhemas, a roguelike dungeon in which you need to survive to unlock one of its subclasses, will be significantly easier. Fighting monsters up close was simply worse than fighting them from afar due to the way the challenge’s unique Honor resource worked. Think of it as a secondary health bar: lose Honor, fail the challenge. The upcoming patch will significantly reduce the amount of Honor damage you receive near enemies, as well as fix two bugs that caused it to deplete much faster than intended. Warrior players may finally see what it’s like to have a subclass.

PoE 2′The most difficult dungeons and maps will also not be as harsh as before. Monsters that leave behind explosions and other destructive effects should not destroy you in one hit. And high level cards won’t just make your character’s elemental resistance worse. The number one complaint among endgame players is how easy it is to pop out of nowhere into a crowd of enemies who will kick you out of the dungeon empty-handed. You still only have one life, but death will hopefully feel significantly less random.

This is the second major patch for the game, and these changes help shape how GGG plans to approach balancing. PoE 2six classes. Last week, a patch was released that eliminated characters focused on freezing enemies without warning or explanation, forcing them to spend huge amounts of gold reworking their builds. The cost of moving your skill points will drop significantly in the next patch to compensate for this, and GGG says it’s doing everything it can to avoid leaving characters gutted.

“Since launch, we’ve unfortunately had to nerf a few skills that were too strong. How do we define superpower? Essentially, it is a situation in which a particular skill is so powerful that players feel that no other method of playing the game is viable,” it says. “Generally speaking, we’re trying to do it in a way that doesn’t make the build bad (but we can make mistakes!).”

GGG says full patch notes will be coming “soon” and the weeks following its release will be quiet as many of its contributors take time off.

Path of Exile 2 Early Access is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and PC.
