If you were around in the mid-2010s, you probably remember how the quirky survival horror Bendy and the Ink Machine took the world by storm. The combination of episodic setting, enemies and rubber hose-style environments, and an intriguing plot made it extremely popular. And now it’s ready to return, including on mobile devices!

Bendy: Lone Wolf debuted with a demo trailer (linked below) showcasing plenty of gameplay in a top-down isometric style. Apparently, you play as Boris the wolf, one of the many cartoon characters brought to life by the famous Ink Machine, as he tries to survive the dangers of Joey Drew’s studio.

The original Bendy and the Ink Machine is available on mobile devices, as is the spin-off Nightmare Run. And Boris and the Dark Survival is from which Lone Wolf seems to borrow many elements. Although it’s unclear if Lone Wolf is some kind of definitive version of Dark Survival or a new version of its own.

Either way, Bendy and the Ink Machine has remained an extremely popular franchise in the years since its original release. Widely known as one of the first major mascot horror games, along with perhaps the most iconic game, Five Nights at Freddy’s.

How well Bendy: Lone Wolf holds up, I think, will depend on what form it takes. As I said, this isn’t the Bendy series’ first foray into isometric survival horror starring a wolf. But given that it’s also coming to Steam and Switch, I’d hazard a guess that the lessons learned from the first mobile release will become something even more terrifying.
