Overwatch 2’s 6v6 experiment continues with big balance changes
As promised, Blizzard Entertainment is giving 6v6 team competition another chance. Overwatch 2 with a new limited-time experimental mode for the hero shooter. The 6v6 RPG queue experiment will bring back teams with two tanks, two damage and two supports from the original structure. Overwatch for three weeks, as well as some big changes, especially for tanks. Say goodbye to Roadhog’s pig pen, Reinhardt’s double fire attacks, and Wrecking Ball’s ability to share its shields with allies in this experimental mode.
Of course, during the experiment with the 6v6 role queue, changes were made to the balance of damage heroes and support heroes. Some damage heroes will do a little more damage, while some support heroes will give a little more healing. The list of changes is long and worth familiarizing yourself with so you can go into the new 6v6 mode with the right expectations.
Blizzard is encouraging logins during the ongoing Winter Wonderland event and is giving away three free skins for Overwatch 2 players who have played a certain number of games. Completing three games will reward you with the Happy Puppet Echo Legendary skin; six will open Cassidy’s cozy new iconic sweater and highlight the intro; and nine games will open the chic winter legend Widowmaker and highlight the introduction.

This mode combines the thrill of the original six-player team game with strategic depth. Overwatch 2Heroes and abilities have been updated. Immerse yourself in the game to experience a new balance of strategy, adaptability, and pure team synergy—showcasing how modern Overwatch gameplay thrives on the classic format.
The 6v6 experiment will be available in the unrated menu from December 17 to January 6.
This mode uses a role queue ruleset consisting of 2 tank heroes, 2 damage heroes, and 2 support heroes.
Map selection and gameplay are based on a set of quick play rules.
To adapt to the 6v6 format, several heroes have received balance changes that better suit their abilities in the 6v6 format. These changes apply only to this mode and are based on the latest hero balance from the December 10 update.
Base health regeneration timer increased from 5 to 7 seconds.
