New League of Legends video – continuation of Arcane’s wild ending
Riot published a new teaser for the upcoming League of Legends It’s competitive season and the developer is partnering with Fortiche again. The new Welcome to Noxus trailer features a host of Noxian champions scheming and fighting, including Mal, a councilman from Piltover who travels to the Undying Bastion in search of answers.
“Welcome to Noxus” is, in some ways, exactly what you’d expect from a pre-season trailer. There are some cool battles between the champions: Katarina and Elise fight at a fancy ball in Noxus, and Trundle and Darius engage in hand-to-hand combat in the icy region of Freljord. But there’s a startling plot development here, and the video ends with the Black Rose leaders contemplating their next steps.
Next season League of Legendswhich begins on January 9, will bring the Noxus-themed season to the map, changing the terrain and turrets to match the theme of the warrior nation. There’s also a new line of Black Rose Mask skins that features several champions attending a fancy dance ball hosted by Black Rose. “Welcome to Noxus” shows us fragments of this party, which Katarina rudely crashed. Katarina is an assassin loyal to Swain, the current leader of Noxus, so there seems to be a lot of infighting still going on between Noxian power players.
Interestingly, we see LeBlanc and Vladimir appear at the end of the video. Unfortunately, they do not match their appearance in the game, but they are still recognizable as characters. This could be a teaser for a future visual update to these champions. This also seems to confirm that LeBlanc is the mysterious magician who confronted Mal in the show’s second season. Secret. Essentially, this new season, “The Mask of the Black Rose” and Leblanc’s conversation with Vladimir seem like a direct continuation of the end Secret Season 2. This suggests that Secret is definitely core canon, and it’s an interesting discovery.
If you are interested in learning more about Black Rose, League of Legends ENT, and how Secret With that in mind, the video above from Necrit is a deep dive into the topic from a longtime curator of the game’s complex canon.
We’ll have to see more of Noxus and how this cinematic struggle plays out throughout the first season. There’s a lot of narrative potential surrounding Noxus: Mordekaiser’s time bomb hidden in the Immortal Bastion, Swain’s deal with the treacherous demon named Raum, Thresh’s theft of souls from the unlucky employees of a Noxian bar, and the ongoing conflict that Darius led in Freljord.
New season League of Legends releases January 9th at 12:00 pm PT/3:00 pm EST.
