Marvel Rivals Season 1 patch notes reveal big buffs and nerfs

Season 1 Marvel Rivals will be released later this week and will feature two members of the Fantastic Four in the Marvel-themed multiplayer shooter. Friday’s update also brings a long list of changes to nearly every playable Marvel superhero and villain, including plenty of much-needed tweaks to characters like Hawkeye, Hela, and Thor.

Many of Marvel Rivals Balance adjustments in the first season are reflected in the increase or decrease in character health. Hela’s health, for example, was lowered to 250 because, according to the game developer, she is a “threat.” But some heroes, like Hawkeye, deal less damage, at least at mid-to-long range. Thor will now be nearly unstoppable when he unleashes his God of Thunder ultimate, which can no longer be interrupted by crowd control abilities. Mantis will receive a passive movement buff nerf, while Rocket will receive a healing buff and buff to his team with Punisher and Winter Soldier.

There’s also a good chance you’ll be less likely to be swallowed by Jeff the Land Shark.

Marvel Rivals Players will want to check out all the changes coming later this week as they welcome their new main character, the Invisible Woman (and Malice).

Marvel Rivals Season 1 January 10th Update Notes

Captain America
Steve will gain increased survivability, allowing him to get in and out of combat more often.
– Reduced the shield restoration delay time after releasing the Living Legend from 3 to 2 s.
– Reduced Liberty Rush cooldown from 12 to 10 seconds.
– Increased base health from 650 to 675.
– Reduced the energy cost to release Freedom Charge (ultimate ability) from 3400 to 3100; Reduce the bonus health granted to yourself per second after it is released from 110 to 100.

Doctor Strange
We will be reducing the threat radius and increasing the Sorcerer Supreme’s protective window.
– Added damage reduction for Maelstrom of Madness and Gamma Maelstrom. Starting at 5 meters and decreasing to 70% at 8 meters.
– Slightly reduced the shield recovery speed after releasing the Seraph Shield from 80/s to 70/s.

Thor
The Thunder God could improve the survivability a bit and increase the success rate of his ultimate ability.
– Increased base health from 500 to 525.
– Added immunity to crowd control effects while God of Thunder is active (ultimate ability).

Hulk
Dr. Banner has been dominant, but a slight decrease in sustained combat effectiveness when entering the battlefield will make him more similar to other Vanguards.
– Reduced the value of the Indestructible Guard gamma shield for the Hero Hulk from 250 to 200.

I
With increased survivability and the threat of its ultimate ability, this symbiote will strike fear into the rear of all enemy teams.
– Increase the bonus health to symbiotic resistance factor gained per lost health point from 1 to 1.2.
— Increased the base damage of Abyssal Feast (ultimate ability) from 40 to 50.

Black Panther
We’re reducing T’Challa’s combat survivability slightly.
– Reduce the extra health granted to yourself after upgrading vibranium tags with Spirit Rend from 40 to 30, and the extra health cap from 120 to 75.

Black Widow
Natasha was in dire need of optimization when assessing the experience of releasing her abilities, as well as a slight increase in the threat of her ultimate ability,
– Increased the range of the first effect of Edge Dancer from 3 meters to 5 meters.
– Reduced the time it takes Fleet Foot to restore stamina from 0 to full, from 12 to 4 seconds.
– Reduced the time required to reach the maximum power of the electroplasma explosion (highest ability) from 1 to 0.6 seconds.

Hawkeye
We’ll be reducing the mid- and long-range damage dealt, decreasing the threatening combat radius, and slightly improving the Avenger Archer’s melee resistance.
– Slightly reduced the spread angle between every two explosive arrows.
– Reduced the trigger range of Archer’s Focus passive ability from 60 to 40 meters. Passive maximum bonus damage reduced from 80 to 70.

Hela
The Goddess of Death is a threat and we will be reducing her combat power a bit.
– Base health reduced from 275 to 250.

Magic
Queen Limbo needed an increase in her threat after the revelation of her ultimate ability.
– Increased damage of Umbral Incursion in Darkchild form from 115 to 135.

Moon Knight
The Hand of Honshu will have a slight increase in the threat of his ultimate ability.
– Increased the number of claws generated by the Hand of Honshu (highest ability) from 10 to 14.
– Increased the explosion radius of each claw from 4 meters to 5 meters.

Namor
We’re optimizing the feel of Namor’s egg throwing!
– Adjust the throwing feel of Monstro Spawn and Frozen Spawn. Now Namor can more accurately transfer them to the right place.

Psylocke
We will give other heroes more options to counter the Demon Slayer’s ultimate.
– Butterfly Dance (ultimate ability) will now check for obstacles (including Magneto’s Metal Bulwark, Hulk’s Indestructible Guard, etc.).

Punisher
We’re increasing Frank’s weapon damage slightly.
– Slightly reduced the spread of Liberation and Judgment.

Scarlet Witch
We’re increasing Wanda’s combat power when she fights with Duelists or Strategists.
– Increased Chaos Control’s fixed damage from 50/s to 60/s.
– Reduced the percentage of damage per second from 5% to 3%.
– Increased damage of Chthonian Burst projectiles from 30 to 35.

Storm
The Weather Witch needed an overall increase in her damage; We’re also optimizing the feel of her left-click projectile and the process of using her ultimate ability.
– Increased Wind Blade projectile speed from 100 m/s to 150 m/s and left click damage from 50 to 55.
– Increased Bolt Rush damage from 70 to 80.
– Upon releasing Omega Hurricane (Ultimate), the bonus health it provides will be increased from 350 to 450. Moreover, once it is completed, the bonus health will no longer disappear instantly, but will instead decrease at a rate of 100 per second.

Squirrel Girl
We’re increasing the threat of Doreen and her furry friends with their ultimate ability.
– Added a new effect to Invincible Squirrel Tsunami (ultimate ability): squirrels will rush towards the nearest enemy after jumping, rather than jumping randomly.
– Reduced the tsunami squirrel’s health from 600 to 300.

Winter Soldier
We will be adjusting Bucky, reducing his long-range combat power and increasing his survivability in mid-to-close range combat.
– Increase the bonus health provided by Bionic Hook and Tainted Voltage from 30 to 40.
– Increased damage of Rotherstern’s projectile from 70 to 75.
– Reduce area damage from 70 to 65 and reduce damage decay from 65% at 40 meters to 60%.
– Increased base health from 250 to 275.

Wolverine
Logan will receive an increase in base combat power, but a slight decrease in additional survivability after activating Undying Animal.
– Increase base health from 300 to 350.
– Reduced the damage reduction rate provided by Undying Animal from 50% to 40%.

Cloak and Dagger
Tai and Tandy will receive an increase in their healing abilities, as well as an increase in the range of their ultimate ability.
– Reduced the cooldown of Dagger Storm from 15 to 12 seconds.
– Increase the number of dashes in Eternal Bond (ultimate ability) from 3 to 4.

Jeff Land Shark
We’ll be adjusting the range of his maximum ability to better match his warning marker. In addition, we will also increase its healing abilities.
– Correct me, it’s Jeff! (ultimate ability) ranges from a 10m radius sphere to a 10m radius to a 5m high cylindrical spellfield.
– Increased Joyful Splash healing from 140/s to 150/s.

Luna Snow
While we liked the way she throws bass, we made changes to Luna’s maximum ability to prevent players from abusing her healing abilities.
– Increased the switching interval between healing and damage in Fate of Both Worlds from 0.1s to 0.5s.

Mantis
We’ll be making Mantis a little less fleet-footed by reducing her support capabilities while roaming.
– Reduced Nature’s Favor movement acceleration (passive) from 2.5 m/s to 1.5 m/s.

Rocket Raccoon
Rocket could do with improving his healing abilities.
– Increased healing in repair mode from 60 per second to 70 per second.

Hawkeye – Black Widow
To further mitigate Hawkeye’s harassment, we’ll be reducing his seasonal buff.
– Reduced Hawkeye’s seasonal bonus from 20% to 15%.

Hela – Thor – Loki
As with Hawkeye, Hela’s suppressive power will be slightly reduced.
– Reduced Hela’s seasonal bonus from 20% to 15%.

Luna Snow – Namor
We will be increasing the threat from Namor’s Ice Spawn.
– Increased Frozen Spawn damage from 25 to 27.
– Increased the Frozen Spawn slow effect applied to enemies hit from 25% to 30%.
– Increased damage from Frozen Spawn while berserk from 16 to 18.

Rocket Raccoon – Punisher – Winter Soldier
One of Rocket’s best tools will be available more often!
– Reduced the cooldown of Ammo Invention from 45 to 40 seconds.

Scarlet Witch – Magneto
A little disappointingly, the damage output of this Father Daughter Team ability will be increased.
– Increased Metallic Fusion projectile damage from 55 to 60.
– Increased damage to the field of the Metallic Fusion spell from 30 to 35.

Thor – Storm – Captain America
We will be increasing the damage output of this Storm team ability.
– Reduced Charged Gale cooldown from 20 to 15 seconds.
– Increased Charged Gale damage from 50 to 55.
