Assassin’s Creed Shadows release delayed due to “player feedback”
Assassin’s Creed Shadows releases March 20, Ubisoft announced Thursday, this is the game’s second delay. Ubisoft announces an additional month of development for Assassin’s Creed Shadows “will allow the team to better incorporate player feedback collected over the last three months and help create the best possible launch environment.”
Ubisoft Announces Another Release Delay Assassin’s Creed Shadows — originally slated for release in November 2024 — is part of the publisher’s “renewed focus on quality gameplay and engaging day-one experiences.” Ubisoft hopes so Shadows I won’t repeat the launch problems of last summer Star Wars Outlawswhich the developers tried to refine and fix after launch. Ubisoft stated that Star Wars Outlaws partly to blame – along with the canceled XDefiant — for lower-than-expected holiday sales.
The publisher’s commitment to gameplay quality and performance from day one is also part of Ubisoft’s strategy to, according to CEO Yves Guillemot, “reshape the group to deliver best-in-class gaming experiences, improve operational efficiencies and maximize value creation.” In other words, as Ubisoft explores a sale and could go private, the game maker wants to make itself as financially attractive as possible.
Specifically, Guillemot said in a statement: “We have also recently appointed lead advisors and are actively exploring various strategic and capital options to unlock the full potential of our assets. We believe there are multiple potential ways to generate value from Ubisoft’s assets and franchises.”
Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be released on PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X. Probably in March, this time for real.
