Awesome Games Done Quickly “came to a thrilling conclusion” by raising an incredible $2,556,305 (that’s £2.1 million) for the Prevent Cancer Foundation.
The week-long fundraiser culminated last night with Super Metroid’s boosted launch, drawing over 2,000 visitors and “tens of thousands” of viewers on Twitch.
Speedrunners came from all over the world to “run through a variety of games, new and old”, often with “ridiculous incentives and challenges to raise donations”, including a full live concert during Crazy Taxi, where Dr. Doot played Elden Ring with a saxophone as his controller embedded above, and an operatic performance by trained singer Xim after completing his run of Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando.

Since 2010, Games Done Quick has raised more than $54 million (£44.2 million) for charities around the world, including Doctors Without Borders, the Malala Fund, Autism Research and others.
Next up is Back to Black, the first black speed running charity event, taking place Feb. 6-9 to benefit racial justice nonprofit Race Forward. Summer Games Done Quick returns to Minneapolis, Minnesota to raise funds for Doctors Without Borders in July.
Last year at this time, Peanut Butter Shiba Inu became the first dog to run the game quickly during the Awesome Games Done Quick.
Peanut Butter speedrunned Gyromite, a puzzle platformer released on the NES, in 26 minutes and 24 seconds, which is about a minute slower than his own world record but well within his 30-minute time limit.
