Dragon Quest X is coming to mobile devices, but only in Japan for now

  • Dragon Quest X, one of the latest games in the popular series, is coming to mobile devices, but only in Japan.
  • Japanese fans can get Dragon Quest X with offline functionality at a discounted price.
  • But a global release doesn’t seem to be in sight yet.

Longtime Dragon Quest fans will be familiar with all of the countless games that have been in the series, as well as its spin-offs. However, it looks like (at least in Japan) fans will now be able to play the newly released offline version on mobile devices as it releases for iOS and Android tomorrow!

According to the folks at Gematsu, Japanese Dragon Quest fans can access Dragon Quest X Offline, the single-player-only version of the release, on iOS and Android with a premium purchase. Speaking of a real blast from the past, did you know that Ubitu was planning to release Dragon Quest X on mobile devices back in 2013?

Unlike other Dragon Quest titles, X includes many more MMORPG-oriented features, such as real-time combat, which is unusual for the series. An offline version was released back in 2022 for consoles and PC, well after the original’s 2012 release date.

Yes

to be here dragons

Unfortunately, I wouldn’t wait for an international release. While it’s not impossible, the original version of Dragon Quest X was only released in Japan, and while it would be great to have an offline version available on mobile devices, there’s little to no news on the matter at the moment.

It’s a shame too, I’m a die-hard Dragon Quest fan based solely on the hours I spent in Sentinels of the Starry Sky back in the day, so being able to experience even a different version of the series on mobile is something I enjoy. I really liked it.
