Mobile game

Reviver will hit storefronts later this month, allowing you to remake history with one small change.

With one flap of a butterfly’s wings…

  • Reviver, the point-and-click narrative adventure, now has an official release date
  • According to the iOS listing, it will hit store shelves on January 21st.
  • Reviver sees you making small changes with big impact to reunite star-crossed lovers.

I think this is one of those years where we’ll have to repeat ourselves a bit! And this is because there will be a lot of rework and rearrangement. Case in point: We now finally have a release date for the upcoming story-driven, time-based point-and-click Reviver!

We’ve covered Reviver several times over the past few months, first to announce its upcoming release and then to look at the listings it finally received. It now appears that developer CottonGame will all but stick with its proposed winter release date, as Reviver will hit store shelves on January 21st.

Reviver is an interesting narrative novel where you take on the role of a butterfly of sorts. You will witness the life of two unhappy lovers who are destined not to get together. By making tiny changes, you will witness the seismic effect your actions have on reversing fate and finally bringing them together as you view the world from the same room.

With the flap of a butterfly’s wings

I don’t have any impression that Reviver will be some kind of revolutionary piece of art that will change mobile gaming. However, I think it’s worth a look when it comes out as the idea is quite original and something I don’t think I’ve seen before.

The idea of conveying the story of these two people solely through what you pick up, read and study in this room is very experimental, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it turns some people off. But at the same time, if it does work and is memorable enough, I think it will resonate as much, if not more, as some of the other, more melodramatic works in the genre.

Maybe it will make it onto our list of the best mobile games of 2025 (so far)? You’ll just have to wait and see!
