Company of Heroes Unveils Multiplayer Skirmish Mode for iOS Port

  • Company of Heroes, the popular real-time strategy game from Relic Entertainment, ported by Feral Interactive, is going multiplayer!
  • The recent iOS beta adds the much-requested Gunfight mode feature.
  • Fight as factions inspired by real World War II armies.

When it comes to Relic entertainment, while many may know them from the popular Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War series, some enjoy their World War II real-time strategy series Company of Heroes. The original became available on mobile devices some time ago, but it was missing one key feature: a multiplayer mode. That is, until now.

Yes, I noticed some tantalizing news on the Company of Heroes iOS page that Online Skirmish mode has debuted as a beta feature. This will allow you to fight other players as part of one of the included factions; be it the Americans and Germans or the expanded British and Panzer Elite factions that are featured in the included Opposite Fronts expansion.

Company of Heroes is fondly remembered for striking a dynamic balance between realistic warfare and more gamified RTS fun. It’s not just about having a more expensive unit, one wrong move can leave your infantry in tatters in the open or a tank penetrate the vulnerable armor behind it.

So, for those of you who have been lamenting the lack of this key feature in the remastered version of this real-time strategy classic for iOS, I’m sure this is a big day for you.
