Silksong fans believe the creator’s Switch 2 hint points to an April announcement – all thanks to a piece of cake

Desperate Silksong fans believe a new ARG has begun, hinting at the release date of the highly anticipated game, involving the Nintendo Switch 2 and a piece of cake.

Let’s figure it out. Two days ago, Hollow Knight and Silksong co-creator William Pellen updated his social media account, profile name, and photo to X.

His handle is now @everydruidwaswr, his name is now “little bomey” and his profile picture is a piece of cake. It’s this piece of cake that fans have now associated with the Switch 2.

Why? Well, Pellen tweeted: “Something big is coming. Keep your eyes closed tomorrow.” “Tomorrow” means January 16th – of course, that’s when the Switch 2 was announced.

So maybe Pellen, like many others, was aware of the Switch 2 announcement? Or, as Silksong fans say, maybe there’s more to come!

A reverse image search on Google for the image of the cake slice does turn up something strange: it comes from a recipe page published on April 2, 2024. This is exactly one year ahead of Nintendo’s huge Switch 2 Nintendo Direct on April 2, 2025. and correctly present the console’s line of games.

Could this be intentional? On Reddit Silksong, fans say that developer Team Cherry has dropped similar labyrinthine hints before. Fans also believe that coming to Switch 2 Direct would be a smart time for the game to finally materialize.

Silksong’s launch has been named one of Eurogamer’s most anticipated moments of 2025 – if it actually launches this year after years of delays.

“Silksong is the fast-paced, action-packed sequel that Hollow Knight deserves,” we said after playing a demo of the game back in 2019.
