Marvel Snap Surprisingly Suspended from US Operations as TikTok Ban Takes Effect in US
Marvel Snap is banned in the US.
While 170 million US TikTokers expected the app to be suspended after the US Supreme Court upheld a decision to ban the Chinese app over security concerns, it also impacted Marvel Snap players in the US as publisher Nuverse is also owned by TikTok’s owner, ByteDance .
According to developer Second Dinner, the ban was as much a “surprise” for the team as it was for the players.
“Sorry, Marvel Snap is currently unavailable,” the app tells all US players.
“The US has passed a law banning Marvel Snap. Unfortunately, this means you can’t use Marvel Snap yet.
“Rest assured, we are working to restore our service in the US,” the brief statement said. “Please stay with us!”
Marvel Snap is now banned in the US, apparently as part of the TikTok ban.

Developer Second Dinner also addressed players on social media, insisting that the “outage” was “a surprise to us and was not planned.”
“Marvel Snap is here to stay,” the team insisted. “We are actively working to release the game as soon as possible and will update you as soon as we have something to share.”

At the time of writing, it is unclear how long the game will be offline.
At the end of 2023, ByteDance restructured its video game business, including Nuverse, calling the changes a “difficult” decision.
