Path of Exile 2 developers are adjusting rewards after player feedback

It’s only been four days since then Path of Exile 2 is out in Early Access, but developer Grinding Gear Games is already hard at work collecting player feedback. First on the agenda: make the free game more useful.

“One of the main issues that players face is the feeling that the game is not rewarding enough,” reads the December 9 patch notes. “This is an area where we have to be very careful in adjusting because it is very difficult to reduce the decline if we increase it too much. We have identified several key areas that we believe will significantly improve the player experience.”

One of the biggest changes includes doubling the rarity bonus per modifier for rare monsters, which combined with the increased chance that rare monsters will have more modifiers in endgame is sure to improve item drops. To protect players from bad drops, no more than 50% of unique monster drops will be gold, and some bosses will always drop at least one rare item.

Path of Exile 2The early success led to some instability and long login queues when the servers opened on December 6, forcing the developers to “restart the server” several times. Grinding Gear Games director Jonathan Rogers spoke openly about these potential problems shortly before the game’s release and admitted that the studio was surprised when the number of users exceeded 1 million.

“There are many more changes to come, these are just a few of the changes we have to make quickly,” Grinding Gear Games wrote on the feedback forum. “We will continue to monitor feedback and adjust the situation as we go.”
