With the weekend approaching, it’s time to take another look at a few new releases that might otherwise slip under the radar. Today’s topic is the simple, low-poly, yet still surreal 3D platformer Tangled Earth! What does this gravity-defying new release have to offer? Let’s dig in and find out.
In Tangled Earth, you play as the colorful neon android Sol-5, who is sent deep into the depths of an alien planet to discover the source of a mysterious distress signal. Along the way you’ll encounter all sorts of puzzles and obstacles, not to mention strange gravitational “tangles” that change your orientation in various ways; or allow you to solve puzzles by manipulating the gravity of individual objects.
While the idea of an ever-changing perspective can be confusing, Tangled Earth claims to have a specially designed camera system, meaning you won’t be looking sideways at the camera while engaging in platforming elements. For those of you who hate awkward camera angles, this will definitely be a plus.
Gravity fever
Yes, the gravity changing mechanic isn’t exactly new, but it’s still an impressive addition to a mobile game. At the same time, with Tangled Earth, it’s hard to elaborate without simply saying that what you see is what you get. It looks like it’s worth getting into if you’re into that sort of thing, and as Rendezvous_Games’ first effort, it seems pretty solid.
That said, if you’re desperate for something to play this weekend and Tangled Earth doesn’t seem to be quite for you, don’t worry. Why not check out our latest list of the top five new mobile games to try this week and check out all the best releases from the last seven days?
