How to defeat Viper Napuaci in Path of Exile 2
Napuaci viper is the boss in Path of Exile 2third act. Located in Utsaal, Napuaci unleashes a variety of poison attacks in an extremely small arena, forcing you into a claustrophobic battle.
The Napuazzi Viper may not be as difficult or overwhelming as some of the other fights in Act 2 or Act 3, but the limited size of the arena and the potency of the poison make it extremely deadly. This is especially true when she uses several basic moves in quick succession to cover the arena with poison or back you into a corner.
Our Path of Exile 2 cover guides how to defeat Viper Napuaziincluding how to prepare for a boss fight and how to best counter the onslaught of attacks you’ll face.
Viper Napuatzi Weaknesses and How to Prepare

When you get to the Viper Naputazi boss fight, you’ll want to be there. level 43-45if not higher. Unfortunately, Viper Napuatzi is resistant to almost all types of elemental damage.including fire, frost and lightning. She is also resistant to physical damage. So you want to use chaos damage if you have it at the moment, or try to break her armor as much as possible.
This makes some classes significantly more effective against her, such as the Warrior (thanks to his powerful attacks) or the Witch if you managed to create a chaos build at this stage. A ranger with poison or chaos attacks is also effective. Other classes will have a harder time, such as the Monk or Sorceress, so you need to combine your gear and defense with chaos resistance (poison damage counts as chaos damage).
The main way to do this is to farm gear with the Chaos Resistance stats throughout Act 3. Additionally, you can use the passive skill tree trunks to purchase Chaos Resistance nodes, which may be located far from where you started on the tree.

You can also use the Ring of Chaos Resistance, which can be found throughout Act 3 as a random item or purchased from one of the merchants in Act 2 or Act 3.
Finally, if you defeat Ignagduk (which you could do while searching for the spirit) and complete the Tribal Revenge quest, you will be able to select the Blooming Antidote. This gives you immunity to poison when you are poisoned. If you don’t pick one, your only hope is to find one randomly while farming enemies.
How to defeat Viper Napuaci in Path of Exile 2
Viper Napuatzi is a challenging small arena fight with a lot of visual action going on. Throughout the fight she will gradually add more attacks rather than switching between separate phases. Therefore, as the battle progresses, she becomes more and more unpredictable. In this guide, we’ll break down each attack roughly in the order in which they appear.
The Viper Napuatzi’s main attack range is a series of spear attacks. This includes a lunge that can be dodged to the side, as well as a standard three-hit combo. The first two strikes will strike at close range, and then she will leap forward and thrust her spear into the ground for a more powerful third attack. They can be dodged by rolling away from her during the first two attacks and then dodging the attack by rolling to the side.

In another attack, she slowly walks forward while swinging her spear. She will then jump forward and spin her spear, dealing poison damage. To avoid an attack, dodge it. Almost all of her attacks also deal Chaos Poison damage, so once you get hit, you’ll constantly take some damage while infected with the Poison. This is why resistance to chaos damage is so important if you can get it.

She may also rush towards you to close the distance between you. When Napuaci holds the spear by the right side and charges it, you will see concentrated poison at the tip. (It will also be loud knock beep.) This is a charged ranged attack that will release two snakes in front of her. It has a fairly wide range across the arena, so you’ll need to back away and dodge it when it releases a charged attack. She will also scream while charging this attack. As soon as she stops, be ready to dodge.

She can also take a quick step back and then throw poison in front of her, at which point you need to dodge backwards. In addition, she can throw lightning knives that bounce off the walls of the arena. You can dodge them by rolling to the side.
In general, between all of these attacks, you shouldn’t use any auto-targeting abilities, area of effect abilities, or projectiles like walls and orbs to deal damage between dodges. Don’t get too close to her. Instead, slowly walk her around the arena at a distance, keeping a medium distance. This will allow you to avoid most of her melee attacks with good dodges and not have to worry about projectiles.
If you’re playing a Warrior or a melee-focused class, focusing on abilities like totems and shockwaves is key. If you go too long without damaging Napuaci, her energy shield will return.

Once Napuaci is down to about 85%, she will stick a spear into the ground and create a pool of poison around it. She will also float in the air and launch fire bombardments that rain down on the arena from above. They are marked with circles on the ground, and to avoid them you just need to slowly walk around the arena. Don’t roll. Just move to places that haven’t been bombed (or have just been bombed).

She will complement this with Chaos Bombings, which do the same thing. However, their area of effect is much larger, so you will have to roll to dodge them. Fortunately, there are fewer simultaneous bombings than fire attacks. But you’ll still have to walk through empty areas of the arena or areas that have just been bombed.
When Napuatzi lands on the ground again, she will start shooting poisonous projectiles at you that will deal significant damage. These poison balls fly either as fast and merciless streams of poison or as a burst of five or so projectiles in front of her. She will constantly switch between the two formations, and the only real way to damage her here is with an area of effect attack, because you won’t have time to cast long spells or perform melee attacks.
You need to dodge a shotgun blast by rolling. through attack, but you can run around Napuaci to avoid the barrage of poisonous projectiles. She quickly changes direction to catch up with you, so try to keep an eye on her. If you’re lucky and she lands a spear after bombing, she can pick it up and go back to using melee attacks instead of those projectiles.

Napuaci can also attack with slow poison projectiles, which you can dodge first by staying behind her. However, once she starts attacking again, these projectiles will remain in the arena for a few seconds.
If she jumps into the air and screams, dodge her as she is about to perform an attack. If Napuaci crouches, she prepares to unleash one of her most devastating moves. In addition to occasionally firing small, slow-moving poisonous projectiles, she briefly dives into the ground before bursting out, firing spears from minions that act as a wall around the arena.
These minions will randomly shoot spears back and forth, but will glow bright green before attacking, allowing you to dodge or stand in an area where they are not attacking. However, you need to watch the left and right sides of the arena, as minions will attack from both sides.

The best strategy here is to stick to a small area of the arena away from Napuaci and zigzag back and forth depending on where the minions attack. Once Napuatzi finishes the attack, she will return to using the rest of the moves described above. Additionally, each time she completes this attack, the arena becomes a little smaller as the minions get closer.
This makes the fight even more intense since once she completes this spear attack for the first time, she won’t have any new moves. However, she will continue to use all the moves you’ve encountered so far, including melee attacks, lightning knives, fire and chaos bombardments, and poison projectiles.
This is where dodging becomes even more important as she won’t stop running towards you or letting you stay at a distance. Try to put as much space between you and her as possible with your abilities. One wrong dodge can corner you in a tight space, exposing you to a barrage of attacks, effectively forcing you to heal and use one of your flasks. (You want to save them until the last 5% of her health, when the arena gets so small that some attacks are hard to dodge.)
There is no specific order for these attacks. She can use multiple bombardments in a row, mercilessly spam melee attacks, or switch between them. You just need to become familiar with the movements that signal each attack. She will perform a spear attack (the one where she floats) after her health is down to about 30%.
Once her health drops to 5%, she will perform her spear attack more consistently. However, the arena will not become smaller, and this is a small plus. However, you can’t damage her during this attack, so you’ll have to wait until she starts fighting on the ground again – at which point you can resume dealing damage.
After defeating the Viper Naputazi, you will be able to advance to Cruel difficulty and the finale.
