Nintendo delays public release of Alarmo
Alarmo, Nintendo’s custom alarm clock that offers users the ability to wake up to sounds from games like Mario and Zelda, was scheduled for public release in January of this year. However, this no longer happens.
In a social media post, Nintendo said Alarmo will remain a limited-time exclusive for Nintendo Switch Online members until “early” March.
“It will then be available for purchase from select retailers in select countries,” Nintendo of Europe X said in a statement. “Thank you for your understanding.”
The company did not specify which countries it was talking about. At the time of writing there was a similar message No was published on the Nintendo of America X Channel.
Rumors of today’s delay to the Alarmo follow December’s news that the thing wouldn’t be publicly released in Japan as originally planned. Last month, Nintendo blamed its “production and inventory situation” for the decision.

Here in the UK, Alarmo retails for £90, but is it worth it?
“In its current form, it appears that Alarmo has untapped potential and, as a result, is overpriced. I understand the appeal of simplicity, and I also understand the need to be careful about what an internet-connected device is tracking. people’s bedrooms,” our Tom wrote in Eurogamer’s Alarmo review.
“But the £90 Alarmo is hard to recommend at the moment. Its motion detection is fun, and I really like that Nintendo still has the ability to surprise with something like this (especially now that the world is waiting for the Switch 2). But for a company dedicated to creating such immersive games, this is a device that forces you to come up with your own.”
