The teaser for Before Dawn shows how it replaced the game’s branching narrative
Sony has released a video for its upcoming film Before Dawn, showing us for the first time what horrors await unsuspecting teenagers.
One of the most interesting parts of the trailer is how the production team plans to adapt the game’s branching narrative. Those who have played Until Dawn know that characters can die or survive depending on various decisions made by the player. There will be a variation of this mechanic in the film.
“One of the creative things about the game is that people make different choices and die different ways,” explained Until Dawn director David F. Sandberg, adding: “There’s this mechanic in the movie where it all starts over again and they They can try again.” (intensive breathing signal).
So what does this really mean for the film’s characters? “Every time they come to life, it’s like they’re entering a new horror genre,” Sandberg said. “They need to live until dawn to survive.”
Along with this news, the trailer features actor Peter Stromare, who is simply referred to as Hill. “I’m very proud to be part of this evolution on screen,” he says, before the video cuts to posters of missing teenagers as an ominous ticking sound is heard.

The upcoming adaptation of Before Dawn features both a new cast of characters and a new story. It’s due out later this year on April 25th, with another trailer promised before then.
As for the game itself, the recently released PS5 remake introduced a new ending to Until Dawn, hinting at a sequel.
