Zara Dar is an engineer who gave up her PhD to become a model and OnlyFans content creator. Her channels on both YouTube and Pornhub often post the same videos: explanations of math concepts that teach you what a neural network is or where the concept of pi comes from, which happens to be conveyed by an attractive woman in top with a deep neckline. . As Dar explained on LinkedIn (via 404 Media), that same video would earn her $340 per million views on YouTube and $1,000 per million views on Pornhub.
Admittedly, her videos are getting more views on YouTube because I think fewer people are going to Pornhub to find out what integrals are. But there’s a surprising amount of non-pornographic material on Pornhub, including plenty of Minecraft videos. Comedian Ryan Creamer has a whole channel of useful videos with promising titles. (By the way, this link is still NSFW, unless your job is cool where you browse Pornhub while you don’t have time like I do. Hopefully.)
Dar told 404 Media that she’s not entirely sure why her videos perform so well on Pornhub, “but it could be because my SFW videos stand out from the typical NSFW content on the platform. This contrast can make them more intriguing or fresh for viewers.” .But these are just my assumptions.”
After posting an explanation of her business model on LinkedIn that briefly went viral, Dar’s account on the website where business bros go to explain how great it is to ignore your family in favor of being a workaholic, was suspended. “I’ve been doing this professionally,” she said, “but LinkedIn’s strict approach to this situation seems counterproductive to achieving its goal.”
